It was pouring with rain, and they didn&#8217;t have many entrants&#8230; so, for a brief (and glorious) time, I held the number three spot in the world rankings&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/johnshepherd.me.uk\/?attachment_id=1830\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1830\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/johnshepherd.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9706-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Me, clobbing a clog\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1830\" srcset=\"https:\/\/johnshepherd.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9706-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/johnshepherd.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9706-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/johnshepherd.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_9706.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also managed to take in the traditional <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pace_Egg_play\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pace Egg plays<\/a> at Mossley and Middleton (good excuse for a pub crawl), observe the Easter Monday egg roll at Preston, watch the Northumbrian Gathering parade at Morpeth, and pay a trip to a place called Mytholmroyd (which sounds very exotic, but is actually in West Yorkshire) to see this:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"259\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1kwJC76J0yE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Laying low for a couple of weeks now&#8230; then we&#8217;re into Wickerman season! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month&#8217;s adventures have included: A trip to the World Clog Cobbing (i.e. throwing) championship in Lancashire.
